The first time a geek leaves her floppy behind, because all her files are uploaded to an FTP server somewhere, she falls in love with FTP. My friend and I knew when we left the wings of our academic institution, that we'd need a new place to rest our endless archives of useless programming projects. ;) This is that place.
... and of course being geeks we saw no reason why our simple file server, shouldn't also be a web, mail, ldap, SQL, you-name-it server. And of course both of us being at least somewhat socialistic saw no reason why our simple file/web/mail/etc server shouldn't provide any or all of these services to any of our friends that should need/want such a presence on the internet.
We (Wyvern and I) both like to pretend we're artists of one form or another, but truely we're geeks first, artists second, and so often our web pages, are often not more than ugly proofs of concept. ;)
What's better than a hard disk? A really big hard disk. What's better than a really big hard disk? A really big hard disk online. What's better than a really big hard disk online? Two really big hard disk drives configured as a level 1 RAID array online! The primary goal of our server catamaran is to provide good safe online storage for our files. And while it doesn't have a RAID array yet, it will soon!
